50 Cent to host a TV drama about Nigerian con artist Hushpuppi
American rapper 50 Cent has announced that he is developing a TV series about the life of convicted Nigerian con artist and Instagram influencer, Hushpuppi.
The 50 Cent ad has sparked debate online with some supporting the idea, while others say it will make Nigerians look bad.
Sending the message on the Instagram page, 50 Cent, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, said that he had to do it: "For the jail of my fraudsters, I have to do this, the Hushpuppy series is coming soon! (Hushpuppy series coming soon!)"
The rapper has a history of hosting TV shows, including the drama series Power, which first aired in 2014.
Hushpuppi, whose real name is Ramon Abbas, is currently serving an 11-year prison sentence for his involvement in an international fraud network.
Huspuppi was famous on Instagram, which he used to show his great wealth to his 2.8 million followers, until he was arrested in Dubai in 2020, and his account was closed.
On Twitter, some people expressed their excitement about 50 Cent's plan: "I can't wait to see what 50 Cent has to offer us on this!" one person said.
Another says 50 Cent should "beat Nollywood for this".
However, Others have expressed the lack of awareness of this, with one of them sending a message saying: "why don't you look around you and prepare a series of things that speak positive things about Nigerians, because there is so much around you and around the world".
