Juliana Cherera has resigned as vice chairperson of IEBC
The deputy chairperson of Kenya's election commission, Juliana Cherera, has resigned a few days after being suspended by president William Ruto.
The vice chairman of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) is the second to resign of the four commissioners who were expected to be investigated by the panel formed by President Ruto last week.
Another commissioner Justus Nyang'aya was the first to resign on Friday, a few hours after President Ruto formed the panel
Mrs Cherera and Mr Nyang'aya are among the four commissioners including Irene Masit and Francis Wanderi who will remain outside the office awaiting the investigation of the panel which is expected to present its report and recommendations after 30 days.
In a letter to the President, Ms Cherera said she resigned because "many of my good intentions have unfortunately been misinterpreted."
