Machakos: A policeman is arrested for shooting a college student

A police officer is being detained at the Machakos police station for allegedly shooting and seriously injuring a university student.

The officer, Corporal Michael Mulwa, allegedly shot Machakos University student Brilliant Anusu.

The DCI report said the student was protesting with his colleagues due to the deterioration of security in the area.

Anusu, who is hospitalized in Machakos in a serious condition, was with his colleagues who were facing police officers on Monday 5, 2022.

The DCI department seized guns and other weapons from the officers which are being investigated by the detective unit to determine scientifically which weapons were used to carry out the brutality.

"A total of 9 guns, including 5 pistols, three G-3 and one AK-47 rifle have also been seized from different police officers and will be investigated," the DCI report read.

This incident comes after two other officers in the area were arrested for allegedly stealing a phone and other valuables from a Machakos university student.

Kevin Sila and David Muringu who are in the ring are believed to use force to carry out the robbery.

The students were on their way to their rented room when they were attacked by security officers.

They were saved by their classmates who heard the screams.

Citizens who were upset, called the Machakos police who arrested the officers and charged them with theft.
