Senegal is 'undefeated' in the World Cup - President

It was a disappointing night for Senegal in the World Cup in Qatar on Sunday after losing 3-0 to England in the qualifying round.

Teranga Lions were without their key players which proved a blow for them when the midfield was dominated by England players.

England will meet France in the quarter-finals on Saturday.

In a Twitter message, Senegalese President Macky Sall expressed his dissatisfaction with the team's performance in the tournament.

He said: "Dear Lions, You have not been defeated. And you played without Sadio [Mane], [Cheikhou] Kouyate and [Idrissa] Gana.

You are among the 16 best teams in the world and England were strong opponents."

Talisman Sadio Mane expressed similar sentiments on Twitter.

"People are very proud of your journey which has made the hearts of your fans happy, protecting the flag with honor."

He added that: "Learning continues. We will look for other trophies."
