Leicester vs Arsenal: Can the Foxes End Their Losing Streak Against the League Leaders?

Leicester vs Arsenal

Leicester City's four-game unbeaten run came to a sudden end after suffering a comprehensive 3-0 defeat to Manchester United in their last match. The Foxes had netted eight goals in their two previous games, making the defeat even more surprising. Following the game, boss Brendan Rodgers acknowledged the support of their fans, stating that they would be "right up for it" in their home return against league leaders Arsenal.

Leicester City will be looking to end their disastrous four-game losing streak against the Gunners, a record that has not occurred in the past 91 years. To accomplish this, the Foxes will need the support of their twelfth man. However, they cannot afford to rest on their laurels since they have lost more Premier League (PL) games from winning positions this season than any other side (W7, D2, L5).

This stat plays into Arsenal's hands since they have won a joint PL-high of four games from losing positions (W4, L3). Their most recent comeback victory occurred in the last round, where they had to muster two equalizers before scoring two goals in stoppage time to regain a two-point lead over Manchester City.

Following the win, Gunners boss Mikel Arteta praised the "character and quality" of his players. Arsenal now aims to notch up their tenth away win in a single PL season for only the second time in their last eight campaigns (W9, D1, L2). Moreover, seven of these nine victories came with multi-goal margins, indicating that they will not take their foot off the gas should they take a lead.

The game will feature two key players to watch: Jamie Vardy for Leicester and Bukayo Saka for Arsenal. Vardy has not had the most prolific league season for Leicester (G1, A4). However, he has scored more PL goals against Arsenal (G11) than any other side. On the other hand, Saka is on the verge of his 50th PL goal involvement for Arsenal at only 21 years old (G26, A23).

Leicester has not won any of their last 18 top-flight games against league-leading sides (D2, L16). Therefore, they will need to bring their A-game against Arsenal.
