Man Loses KSh 796k Which He Allegedly Stole From His Employer To Bet
A manager at a betting company in Zambia has been apprehended by police after allegedly stealing K123,391 (equivalent to KSh 796,316) from his employer. Harrison Kalombwe, aged 26, is accused of using the money to play a virtual spin game with the hope of multiplying it. However, he ended up losing the entire amount.
Kalombwe reportedly opened the shop for clients, and after they started playing, his supervisor noticed some suspicious transactions on his computer from the bola bet. When Regional Manager Mulonyeni Tembo investigated the matter, he discovered that the cash was missing from the balance sheet. He reported that "On the actual closing balance there is K229,588, but cash at hand was K106,197 making a shortfall of K123,391."
The company promptly reported the matter to the police, who subsequently arrested Kalombwe for further investigations. Copperbelt Province Commanding Officer, Peacewell Mweemba, informed the media that the suspect had used company funds to engage in gambling activities.
The case serves as a reminder of the potential risks of gambling and the importance of responsible behavior. It also highlights the need for businesses to implement proper controls and oversight to prevent fraudulent activities.
