IEBC publishes the names of 286 MPs in the Government Gazette

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has announced in the government gazette the elected Members of Parliament from 286 constituencies.

The publication does not include the four constituencies where elections are scheduled for Monday next week, including Kitui in rural areas, Rongai, Kacheliba and Pokot in the south.

The Government Gazette notice has been published before the parliamentarians have an orientation conference on Thursday which will be held in the Parliament buildings.

The notice has published 286 elected members and their names along with the number of votes they got in the last election.

"IEBC announces that the persons whose names are listed in the schedule below were elected as Members of the National Assembly after obtaining the majority of votes cast in the election held on August 9, 2022 and complying with the provisions of the Electoral Act, 2011 and the Constitution," the notice said. it hinted.

Clerk of the National Assembly Serah Kioko on Friday urged all elected MPs including members who have been re-elected to turn up for the orientation session.

Kioko said that orientation sessions will include the registration of Members, the collection of bio-data information, the issuance of parliamentary identification cards, and the provision of information on the use of the Chamber's voting system.

She also said that it will also involve a visit to the Parliament Buildings and a briefing by the Clerk's Office on important legal matters, among other things.

Kioko pointed out that the Elected Members of Parliament will be informed as soon as President Uhuru Kenyatta announces the date they will meet for the first session.
