Karua: Ruto is breaking law by wooing Azimio members

Martha Karua has said that President-elect William Ruto is breaking the law by accepting those who left her party.

In a video seen by niews254, Karua said it is bad luck for anyone who aspires to lead this country and for someone who is the deputy president of the outgoing government to break the laws of the country.

"Our political parties under which coalitions are built make it clear that for anyone who leaves the coalition, there is a process."

"So for the DP to start luring people to leave the union without having any legal conditions is either showing indifference or ignorance of the law of the country, I think knowing him, his true colors show a lack of respect. for the rule of law and lack of democracy in his actions," Karua said.

Karua quoted the constitution saying the winner of the presidential race is not sworn in until the time to submit a petition is over or not to submit any petition.

"If the application is submitted and decided quickly, those who can remember, Uhuru was not sworn in until the application was decided in 2013 and even in 2017," she added.

Karua said Ruto is trying to disrupt the way political parties work and the rules they set.

"It is too early for someone to start disrupting political parties illegally and I would to ask Kenyans and the members involved to be warned and the outgoing deputy president to respect the laws of the land."

Ruto has been receiving leaders who are joining the Kenya Kwanza coalition for the past few days, which has been a loss for Azimio's alliance.
