Kenya Kwanza President-elect William Ruto has now nominated co-leader of the coalition and Ford Kenya party leader Moses Wetangula to the position of Speaker of the National Assembly.

This is according to the leader of the Amani National Congress (ANC), and co-leader of Kenya Kwanza, Musalia Mudavadi who made the announcement on Saturday during the meeting of the union in Karen, Nairobi.

Mudavadi said all the leaders of the union have agreed to choose Wetangula for the position as agreed before the August General Election.

"I have the honor and special privilege on behalf of Kenya Kwanza to announce that we have unanimously agreed that the Speaker nominated in the National Assembly for the Kenya Kwanza coalition will be Moses Masika Wetangula, the Baba wa Roma," Mudavadi said.

The results of the August election saw the head of the Ford Kenya party winning many seats in his Bungoma backyard and successfully defending his position in the Senate.

"I told those who planned the coup that they will not push me from Ford-Kenya, I promised them that they must lose in these elections that have happened, their coup has died on arrival," Wetangula said after the results were announced on August 12, 2022.

Following the victory of President-elect William Ruto in the August elections, Wetangula and all Kenya Kwanza leaders are eyeing power-sharing agreements if Ruto is sworn into office.

Mudavadi was promised the position of Secretary General of the Council of Ministers if Kenya Kwanza succeeded in winning the presidency.
