Billionaire! Musalia Mudavadi opens up about his great wealth


Prime Minister-elect Musalia Mudavadi has revealed his wealth, while facing the Nomination Committee for vetting.


Speaking in parliament on Monday, Mudavadi revealed that he is worth Sh4 billion.


"If I take my investment in shares in some companies and also the properties I own, I will reveal my value as approximately Sh4 billion," he told the review panel.


He added that his current and expected income is from rental income, share dividends, interest and other income derived from the farm.


The former Deputy Prime Minister is the first to face the review panel.


Other nominees expected to be examined on Monday include the former Speaker of the National Assembly Justin Muturi who is the nominee of the Attorney General, Aden Duale (Defence), Alfred Mutua (Foreign Affairs and Diaspora) and Alice Wahome (Water, Sanitation and Irrigation) ).


 Under Executive Order No. 1 of 2022, President William Ruto clearly identified the responsibilities of the Prime Minister's Office holder including handling the Government Delivery Unit.


In addition to assisting the President and Deputy President in the coordination and management of Ministries and Government Departments, the important responsibilities of the Prime Minister include; Communicating with the Ministry of the Interior and National Administration in managing the implementation of policies, programs and projects of the National Government as well as the management and coordination of the agenda of the National Government's laws in all ministries and government departments for approval for union leaders in Parliament.


Mudavadi will also be given the responsibility of leading the Committees of General Secretaries and overseeing the professional monitoring and evaluation of Government policies, programs and projects.


Mudavadi's last position in government was that of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Local Government between 2008 and 2013 in the Grand Coalition Government during the leadership of the late Mwai Kibaki.
