Adeyemi Borussia Dortmund's Forward to Miss three weeks
Borussia Dortmund's top-performing forward, Karim Adeyemi, is expected to be absent from the pitch for three weeks due to a thigh injury, as announced by the club on Monday.
Adeyemi sustained the injury while assisting Donyell Malen in scoring a goal during Dortmund's recent 4-1 win against Hertha Berlin. He was seen leaving the field in tears with his teammates and fans wishing him a speedy recovery.
According to the club's tweet on Monday, Adeyemi suffered a muscle fiber tear during the game and will need about three weeks to fully recover. The club added, "Get well soon."
Adeyemi's absence will be sorely felt as he has been in excellent form for Dortmund, currently tied with Bayern Munich and Union Berlin at the top of the Bundesliga table. In his last three games, he has scored three goals and provided one assist, including a goal in the match against Hertha.
Since his arrival from Red Bull Salzburg in the summer, the German striker has been a key player for Dortmund. Unfortunately, he is expected to miss upcoming games against Hoffenheim, RB Leipzig, and Schalke due to his injury.
Moreover, if the three-week absence is confirmed, Adeyemi will miss the return leg of Dortmund's Champions League tie with Chelsea in London. Adeyemi scored the only goal in the first leg, which Dortmund won 1-0.
