Club World Cup: Egypt's Al Ahly lose to Real Madrid in the semi-finals

Africa's bid to qualify for the third Club World Cup final ended after European champions Real Madrid defeated Egypt's Al Ahly 4-1 in the semi-finals on Wednesday.

Al Ahly's defense did well as Vinicius Jr opened the scoring three minutes before the break while Federico Valverde scored the lead immediately after the break.

The Red Devils put intense pressure on Real Madrid's goal, and that pressure bore fruit when Eduardo Camavinga brought down Hussein El Shahat in the danger zone.

Ali Maaloul of Tunisia scored the penalty and made the result 2-1 in the 65th minute.

Al Ahly continued efforts to equalize and Mohamed Afsha missed an open goal when he was left with the goalkeeper of the Spanish champions while Hussein El Shahat and reserve player Percy Tau both made trouble in the Real Madrid defense.

And Mohammed El Shenawy denied the 14 times European champions the third goal by saving Luka Modric's penalty in the 87th minute.

But Rodrygo and reserve player Sergio Arribas made sure that Real Madrid won the match in the final moments after giving their team a great victory.

Al Ahly will play Brazil's Flamengo in the play-off for third place, before Real Madrid face Saudi Arabia's Al Hilal in Saturday's final.

Al Ahly's coach, Marcel Koller was angry with his team's defeat, the mistakes they made in the defensive line and the mistakes they made in the second half.
