Senator Khalwale Sounds the Alarm on ODM's Decline

Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has dismissed the Azimio la Umoja rally held on Wednesday, stating that it was a major failure. He revealed that several Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leaders skipped the event, indicating that the coalition is likely to disintegrate.

According to Senator Khalwale, Raila Odinga's political tactics are outdated and have lost their appeal, resulting in product fatigue. He also pointed out that the media has become disinterested in covering Raila's political events, as seen in the lack of media coverage of the Jevanjee Gardens rally.

Senator Khalwale named the leaders who refused to attend the rally, revealing that ODM is struggling as more members switch allegiances. He noted that he had spoken with ranking ODM members who refused to attend the event, citing the number of attendees as the reason. These members include Homa Bay MP George Kaluma, ODM chairman John Mbadi, former Kibra MP Imran Okoth, and Budalangi MP Raphael Wanjala.

Senator Khalwale went on to say that the opposition to ODM is growing, including the team that met with President William Ruto at State House in early February. The group of nine includes Gideon Ochanda (Bondo), Elisha Odhiambo (Gem), Mark Nyamita (Uriri), Caroli Omondi (Suba South), Shakeel Shabir (Kisumu East, Independent) Felix Odiwuor alias Jalang’o (Lang’ata), Paul Abuor (Rongo), John Owino (Awendo), and Kisumu Senator Tom Ojienda.

Senator Khalwale predicted that ODM would suffer the same fate as other collapsed parties like FORD, FORD-Kenya, and KANU, leading to the party's ultimate downfall.
