Governor-elect Kawira Mwangaza joins Kenya Kwanza


Meru county governor-elect Kawira Mwangaza has joined the Kenya Kwanza camp led by president-elect William Ruto.


Kawira officially joined Kenya Kwanza on Friday morning and was received by Ruto at his office in Karen, Nairobi.


"Thank you Meru County Governor-elect Kawira Mwangaza for choosing to work with Kenya Kwanza to push Meru and Kenya, Karen, Nairobi County forward," Ruto said via Facebook.


She attached the message with a photo showing him greeting the governor-elect outside his office.


Kawira won the Meru governorship seat as an independent candidate. She got 209,148 votes while UDA's Mithika Linturi came second with 183,859 votes.


Outgoing Governor Kiraitu Murungi took third place with 110,814 votes


Kawira has indicated that she took the step to join Ruto in order to achieve development in Meru.


"President-elect meets Governor-elect. Working towards sustainable development," the Governor-elect said on Facebook.
