We will accept the decision of the Supreme Court - says Karua

Co-presidential candidate of the Azimio coalition Martha Karua has reiterated that the coalition party is going to the Supreme Court to challenge the results of the presidency where William Ruto was declared the winner.

Karua said the Azimio coalition led by Raila Odinga will try to present its case in the Supreme Court, assuring its supporters that they will accept whatever results are presented.

She spoke in Kirinyaga on Friday where she also criticized Ruto for what she called illegal welcoming of rebels from Azimio to Kenya Kwanza.

"We sing our national anthem, let justice be our shield and defender, we have to get justice and when the court decides it will be the end, even if you don't accept that decision in your heart, we have to calm down and accept the end of the court decision," she said.

Karua said that if the court decides that the calculation was done properly, then they will not fight more but will accept and continue.

"You made your decisions and the court will decide if the math was done right or if it was wrong."

Karua said this after Azimio's presidential candidate said he would move to the Supreme Court to challenge the election results that were announced on Monday.

Chairman of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission Wafula Chebukati on Monday announced William Ruto as the president-elect.

The leader of the Narc Kenya party criticized Ruto for his actions saying it was a manifestation of KANU's injustice where the country did not enjoy democracy.

"It is too early for someone to start trying to disrupt political parties illegally, against the law and I would encourage Kenyans and the members involved, to be warned. I also urge the DP of the outgoing government to inform the laws of the country or ask his advisers for a better interpretation," she said.
