A musician is accused of spitting in the face of a police officer

Nigerian singer BNXN, alias Benson, has denied spitting on a Police officer, amid controversy that he did the incident.

BNXN, whose real name is Daniel Benson, boasted on his Twitter account that he had spat in the face of a police officer, in a tweet that was however deleted shortly after. A Lagos state police spokesman said the star "will certainly answer for his attack on a police officer".

BNXN went back on Rice's comments, saying he never spat in any officer's face and people shouldn't take his previous comments seriously or literally.

"My previous tweet that I spat in the face of a police officer was an absurd statement saying that I disrespected a police officer and not how people took it on social media. I do not support abuse or violence against the police, in any form," he tweeted.

"I was in a life-threatening situation that caused me to be beaten due to physical assault by some policemen who have now been brought to court," he continued. He also went on to thank the police officers for their intervention.
