The Migingo Girls High School in Kadibo sub-county is in mourning after their deputy head teacher was found burnt in her house inside the school's compound.

The lastborn son of Roseline Atieno, 27-year-old Jeff Onyango is alleged to have carried out the murder. Onyango was arrested after he was found in the house by the deceased and is currently being detained by the police.

According to the police report, the incident was reported on Sunday at around 2pm by the son of the late Stephen Allan Nyawada.

Allan had gone to visit his mother at school and when he knocked, the door was locked from the inside.

He reported that he heard someone walking near the house and immediately his brother Jeff Onyango opened the door.

When he entered, he found the bathroom door open and the mother burned beyond recognition.

Police officers from Rabuor station, DCI officers and crime experts visited the scene and found that the deceased was living with the suspect in the school grounds.

"There was soot on the wall and kerosene in a cup at the door of the bathroom and a kitchen knife was found next to the body. And in the kitchen there was a Blizzard lamp and kerosene which is believed to have been used to commit the crime," an officer said.

The body of the deceased was transferred to the Star Annext mortuary in Kisumu pending an autopsy.
