Four ways that can help you have a better memory
Forgetfulness or amnesia in technical language is a condition caused by a person not being healthy that many people suffer from without knowing.
Sometimes it turns into a disease known as "Dementia" and has different forms.
Professor Richard Restak, who teaches brain science at George Washington University in the United States, said that the main reason people forget is due to not being able to keep track of things properly.
Restak, who is the former president of the association of neurologists in the United States, wrote an article in the Guardian newspaper where he said that being able to remember is important.
"For example, when you go to a party. If you're still thinking about work-related things and you don't listen well to what the person talking to you is saying, later you realize that you don't remember the name of the person you were talking to." First you memorize information. But if you don't memorize the name, the information won't stick in your mind."
He said that anyone can easily remember the things he has memorized by prioritizing them.
Strategies to boost memory
Restak says that things should be done to improve memory, considering several things that can strengthen the mind and memory
His advice includes:
1. Avoid alcohol
Alcohol is not good for the health of the brain, according to this, the professor says anything can directly interfere with the functioning of the brain or cause loss of consciousness. Anything that can cause blackouts should be avoided, in order to strengthen your brain's memory.
2. Get enough sleep
Getting enough sleep helps your brain work at its best.
Sleeping for a short time during the day every day, helps a lot to improve memory. "Mothers who have given birth and are pregnant complain of not having a good memory, due to being awake for a long time, which affects the best brain function," says Restak.
3. Memory priority
Vision and hearing problems should be addressed as early as possible, and memory loss is something that should not be taken lightly.
4. Socializing with people in the community
Being a sociable person, avoiding loneliness and thinking can help to some extent in enhancing your memory.
But, Restak says that doing all this is not a guarantee that you can have a good memory. "No one can promise you that if you follow this advice you will get the right results, but he says that following this advice can reduce the risk of losing your memory completely," he says.
