A man from Luweero, Uganda, is currently facing charges for allegedly colluding with his mistress to bribe a medical professional to perform a fatal medical procedure on his wife, the mother of his four children.
According to reports, Mr. Friday Musoke and Ms. Enid Kanyonyozi approached Dr. Onesmus Bainomugisha and offered him Ush.5 million (Ksh.174,000) in exchange for his services. The doctor, however, immediately reported the couple's plans after recording their conversation.
The couple supposedly opted for a medical procedure to avoid any suspicion from their relatives. Hiring gunmen would leave room for potential investigation and arrests.
During the negotiations, the doctor secretly informed Luweero District Police Commander, passing on the details of their plot.
In court, Dr. Bainomugisha stated that he acted professionally and felt a deep responsibility to save the life of the mother of four. He feared that if he rejected the couple's request, they might find alternative ways to execute their plan.
During the recorded conversation, Mr. Musoke accused his wife of making his life difficult, "seizing" all his powers as the head of the family, and turning their four children against him. He also claimed that he trusted Ms. Kanyonyozi to keep the deal confidential.
On December 29, 2022, Ms. Kanyonyozi delivered the first instalment of 500,000 Ugandan shillings to the Global Medical Centre. The following day, Mr. Musoke informed the doctor that he had obtained chloroform to render his wife unconscious to transport her to the hospital.
The Police Flying Squad was informed, and Mr. Musoke was arrested as he arrived to finalize the murder plot.
